NORCROSS, Ga., June 11, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge Inc., the leading provider of Intelligent Energy Management solutions for Residential and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers, today announced that the City of Wadsworth, Ohio has chosen Comverge to manage its Home Area Network (HAN) and Load Control Programs. Comverge's IntelliSOURCE® software platform will integrate with the City's existing Itron OpenWay® AMI system to deliver a sophisticated demand response program that helps the northeast Ohio municipality engage its customers, improve reliability and reduce costs.

Wadsworth's "Connected Grid Project" calls for the installation of Comverge's HAN equipment, including IntelliPEAK load control devices, IntelliTEMP programmable thermostats and IntelliFOCUS in-home energy displays. Comverge will implement IntelliSOURCE as the software platform to control all of the devices. IntelliSOURCE provides Wadsworth with single-click control automation with a simple-to-use, yet powerful interface for visualizing impacts and forecasted event performance across its portfolio of load control devices.

Wadsworth, a public power provider in northeast Ohio with 20,000 residents and 12,775 meters, estimates that the City could curtail the growth of its overall system demand by up to 3 percent, and reduce the growth of overall energy consumption by up to 5 percent in five to 10 years, if home energy management solutions are implemented along with AMI. This project is partially funded under the U.S. Department of Energy's Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) Program.
