Carroll, partner in the firm's transaction group, received the 2011-2012 Distinguished Maryland Real Property Practitioner award from the Maryland State Bar Association's (MSBA) Section of Real Property, Planning and Zoning. She was honored at the MSBA Annual Meeting on June 15, 2012.

Each year, the Section Council of the Section of Real Property, Planning and Zoning accepts nominations from MSBA and section members. Award recipients are chosen based on their experience practicing real property law, their contributions to improving real property practice, and their personal, professional and academic accomplishments.

Carroll, the first woman to receive the award, was the perfect choice. Her real estate practice covers all aspects of commercial real estate law and development, including acquisitions and dispositions, project entitlements, public-private partnerships, entity formation, site development, construction matters, creative and tax-exempt project financing, loan workouts, public-private partnerships, and leasing.

Before joining Bowie & Jensen, Carroll was General Counsel to Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, where she also served as Senior Development Director for projects in Durham, North Carolina and Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to her tenure at SBER, Carroll headed the Real Estate section of Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP, practicing commercial real estate and finance law there for more than 25 years.  In the 1990s, Carroll was a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State, serving in India and at the U.S. mission at the United Nations.  Carroll was educated at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland School of Law.
