Next Employee Perk: A Retreat to Canyon Ranch Living Miami Beach – Sorry, No Pups

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., June 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As thousands of four-legged friends descend tomorrow on their masters' offices, the canines of Boardroom Communications will be exploring a different take on "Take Your Dog to Work Day."

Almost a dozen pets and their owners will gather at a local dog park for a few hours of frolic and fun. For company founder Julie Talenfeld, the getaway is seen as a playful perk for her office staff – and their pooches.

"Our landlord doesn't allow dogs in the office, but I see Take Your Dog to Work Day as a great bonding experience for people and canine alike," said Talenfeld, whose two dogs – Champ the Morkie and Casey the "Magical Maltese" – will lead the pack at nearby Happy Trails Park.

Studies have proven the calming and therapeutic effects of dogs on their owners' lives. Meanwhile, employers seek ways to motivate employees, build in-office camaraderie and propel their businesses as employers of choice. This is a novel way for Talenfeld and her team bond.

"I like to reward my publicists for a job well done all year long with fun outings and other unique adventures," said Talenfeld, a "Best Places to Work" honoree who next will take the entire team – less the dogs – to a "Boardroom Play Day" at Canyon Ranch Living Miami Beach for a day of treatments at the Aquavana Spa, beachfront rejuvenation and relaxation, and lavish, organic meals at the Canyon Ranch Grill.

Champ and Casey will be joined at Happy Trails Park by 'Gnarly' Charlie the Manchester terrier, Teddy the chocolate lab/golden retriever mix, Taylor 'the Terrible' golden retriever, Sasha is a Weimaraner, and Kain the Shiba Inu – who will check out of day camp to prance with the pack. Whether the dogs and owners prefer the leash-free run-and-fun area, an exercise and agility area, or a smaller spot for pint-sized dogs, they'll spend time together in a novel spin on the workplace getaway.
