Pulse Recording and Creative Nation Announce Exclusive Partnership

Music Companies Join Forces Bringing Together the New Crop of Nashville Talent With Los Angeles' Breeding Ground for Pop Music

LOS ANGELES, July 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Pulse Recording and Creative Nation have announced today the formation of an exclusive partnership between the two companies, solidifying a creative collaboration between these prominent hubs for talent and songwriting. This relationship underlies the importance of integrating two of music's most important cities – Nashville and Los Angeles – formulating a new breed of Pop and Country artists with multiple levels of crossover potential. Creative Nation's Barry Dean is the first songwriter to be signed to this new partnership.

Pulse Recording has proven to be a powerful force in discovering new songwriting talent, as well as becoming a successful creative center for today's best young writers and producers. The company boasts a roster that has delivered award-winning, worldwide hit singles including Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" and "The Edge of Glory," Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," "California Gurls," "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" and "Part of Me," Taio Cruz's "Dynamite," and Neon Trees' "Animal."

"We are very excited to be working with Creative Nation. I've always been a big fan of Luke Laird's unique approach to songwriting. He is capable of straddling multiple genres of music, which is a unique quality we look for in a creative partner. We also feel very fortunate to be working with Beth Laird who has a refreshing vision for the future of music publishing," said Scott Cutler, founding partner of Pulse Recording.

Beth Laird, co-owner and general manager of Creative Nation shared, "Luke and I are very excited about working with Scott and the entire Pulse team. This new partnership will create diverse opportunities for our writers and we look forward to growing our companies together to form a unique music relationship between Nashville and Los Angeles."

Creative Nation is a new music company that takes a fresh approach to publishing and management founded by Luke and Beth Laird. Luke Laird has co-written nine No. 1 Billboard singles in the last five years (Carrie Underwood's "So Small," "Last Name," "Temporary Home," "Undo It," Blake Shelton's "Hillbilly Bone," Sara Evans's "A Little Bit Stronger," Rodney Atkins's "Take a Back Road" Eric Church's "Drink in My Hand, and "Chris Young's "You,"), earning him the #3 Billboard Hot Country songwriter title in 2011 and an Academy of Country Music Songwriter of the year nomination. Beth previously worked at BMG Music Publishing, Windswept and most recently spent 5 years in writer/publisher relations at BMI. In 2010, Beth was named one of Billboard's 30 under 30 Power Players to Watch.
