ATLANTA, July 12, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC), a nonprofit specializing in smart grid consumer engagement research and education, announced today that Comverge senior vice president of utility sales Brent Dreher has joined the organization's board of directors, effective immediately.

"With his extensive experience in energy consulting, Brent brings to our board an understanding of our members' needs as well as the ways in which SGCC can educate and engage consumers in the process of grid modernization."
Brent Dreher has more than 27 years of consulting and entrepreneurial experience in the energy industry working with large regulated utilities, electric cooperatives and municipal utilities. As the senior vice president, utility sales with Comverge, Dreher is responsible for driving the growth of Comverge's Utility business. Prior to Comverge, Dreher was a senior vice president with Five Point Partners, a specialized provider of strategic, solution delivery and application management consulting services to organizations within the energy and utility industry. Prior to that, Dreher was a founder and president of BE Consulting, where he led the formation of BE's utility industry practice, including the establishment of a smart grid business. In addition, Dreher worked at Accenture for more than 11 years, where he led projects in a variety of engineering and operations areas within generation, transmission and distribution on behalf of clients such as Progress Energy and Duke Energy.
