Scarsdale Veterinarian Joins Central Animal Hospital

SCARSDALE, N.Y., July 15, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Scarsdale veterinarian Dr. Jason Siegelheim, DVM has joined Central Animal Hospital. A recent graduate of the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Siegelheim has had extensive internships, including exotic medicine, during his veterinary training. Most recently, Dr. Siegelheim trained at Mid-Island Animal Hospital on Long Island and Animal Medical Center in NYC. Dr. Siegelheim will be the seventh veterinarian at Central Animal Hospital. Together with the current veterinarians, Dr. Siegelheim will provide routine wellness care for dogs, cats, birds, exotics and pocket pets.

Central Animal Hospital, serving the Westchester, White Plains, and surrounding communities, announced that the practice welcomed a new veterinarian to the team. Jason Siegelheim, DVM, has joined the veterinary hospital to further expand the hospital's exotic pet services.

"We are very excited to welcome Dr. Siegelheim to our team," said Dr. Michael Woltz. Dr. Woltz has served as the veterinary hospital's director since 1981. "We are passionate about providing high quality, proactive wellness care for all of our client's pets. Dr. Siegelheim is a great addition to our team."

While studying at the University of Florida, Dr. Siegelheim received extensive training in the latest veterinary care technology. He completed numerous internships and trained at Mid-Island Animal Hospital on Long Island and Animal Medical Center in NYC.

Dr. Siegelheim's professional interests include exotic animals and pocket pets, dermatology, radiology, neurology, and small animal medicine and surgery.

"Exotic veterinarians must be familiar with a wide range of exotic animals and their unique needs," said Dr. Woltz. "Dr. Siegelheim has clearly demonstrated this breadth of knowledge. He will be an important addition to our exotic vet care team."

Dr. Woltz also emphasized the importance of specialized veterinary care for pocket pets.

"Since pocket pets have shorter life expectancies and are more fragile, routine wellness care is essential in keeping them healthy," said Dr. Woltz. "Exotic pets require specialty care because of their unique habitat and nutrition needs. Fortunately, Dr. Siegelheim is well-versed in these unique needs."

Dr. Siegelheim will be the seventh veterinarian serving the Scarsdale, Westchester and White Plains communities from Central Animal Hospital. Last fall, veterinarian Dr. Donatella Hecht joined the vet care team contributing a wealth of knowledge and experience from surrounding referral veterinary practices.

"With each new addition to our vet care team, we grow stronger and reaffirm our commitment to high quality veterinary care," said Dr. Woltz. "We are proud to have been voted among the best veterinarians in Westchester County in 2011and 2012. We will continue to provide state-of-the-art wellness care, surgical care and urgent care."

The veterinary clinic provides comprehensive wellness services, including spay/neuter procedures, dental care, pet vaccinations, and pet surgery, as well as surgical and urgent care services.

Pet owners may schedule an appointment with Dr. Siegelheim or any of the seven veterinarians by visiting the practice's website, http://bestvets.net, and using the online appointment feature.
