RDA Microelectronics Introduces Multi-Mode Front-End Module for GSM / EDGE / TD-SCDMA Handsets

SHANGHAI, China, July 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RDA Microelectronics (Nasdaq:RDA) ("RDA Microelectronics" or the "Company"), a fabless semiconductor company that designs, develops and markets Radio Frequency (RF) and mixed-signal wireless SoC semiconductors for cellular, connectivity and broadcast applications, today announced availability of its RDA6585 high power, high efficiency multi-mode front-end module for quad-band GSM/EDGE and TD-SCDMA handset applications.

The RDA6585 consists of multi-mode multi-band power amplifiers with an integrated multi-throw antenna switch and CMOS controller. The module includes two power modes for TD-SCDMA for maximum power efficiency to effectively manage data-intensive applications. Packaged in an ultra-small form factor, the RDA6585 requires few external components, simplifying PCB layout and reducing board space. The module is pin compatible with the RDA6582 allowing customers to conveniently upgrade current designs by adding quad-band EDGE capabilities and enhanced GSM performance.

Commenting on the product introduction, Vincent Tai, chairman and CEO of RDA Microelectronics, stated, "We are pleased to continue RDA's technology innovation with the introduction of one of the industry's most cost effective and highest performance multi-mode multi-band front-end modules for GSM/EDGE and TD-SCDMA handsets. This highly integrated transmit module simplifies the handset and datacard design for our customers and further positions RDA to capitalize on the market's ongoing transition from 2G to 3G."
