Martial Arts History Museum's Annual Charity Event Honors the Best in Martial Arts Community

LOS ANGELES, July 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Martial Arts History Museum, http://martialartsmuseum.com, is celebrating its 8th Annual charity event, featuring the Museum's Hall of Fame, live demonstrations, seminars, and cultural performances. Taking place August 4 and 5 at the Museum's Burbank location, the two day event culminates with an elegant dinner ceremony at the nearby Holiday Inn Media Center.

The Museum Ceremony is the largest fundraiser for the museum and a significant event in the industry. This year the museum will provide a series of cultural performances, historical plays and a dinner gala. At the dinner, martial arts pioneers will be inducted into the Hall of Fame including Dr. Joo Bang Lee, Benny Urquidez, Ed Parker Jr., Cart Totton, Jim Arvanitis, Dana Hee, Taejoon Lee, Andrew Freund and Rafael Kosche.

"I am so grateful that people from all over the world are visiting the museum," said museum president Michael Matsuda. "We are the world's first museum dedicated to all the Asian martial arts, seconds away from the Burbank airport and all the major motion pictures studios."

The Marital Arts History Museum began in 1999 as a traveling exhibit to tournaments and conventions all over the world, including ComicCon. In 2010, a site was purchased and the museum re-opened in June 2011. The museum has brought in crowds from not just the local area, but all over the world. A non-profit organization, the museum is designed as an educational and cultural experience in which visitors and young people can learn about each of the different Asian countries (China, Japan, Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, etc.). The museum also showcases how martial arts played a significant role in Asian culture, history and traditions.

The Museum is something the whole family can enjoy with exhibits on traditional Japanese Samurai, Theodore Roosevelt studying judo, Chinese lions, our step into the Olympics, to such items as the Karate Kid headband, Mortal Kombat shield, and Asian culture's impact on American society.
