New Science Center Resident Converts Data Into Knowledge

Capish Inc. is the Science Center's First Swedish Company

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 8, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The newest resident at the University City Science Center Port business incubator is developing a more efficient way to run regulated R&D projects for both big pharma and small biotech companies. Capish, Inc. has taken office space in the Bullpen, the co-working space in the Science Center Port business incubator at 3711 Market Street in Philadelphia, Penn. Capish is the U.S. subsidiary of the Swedish firm Capish International.

According to Eva Kelty, chief financial officer of Capish, the company "converts data and information into knowledge." Capish is developing software that manages, evaluates and visualizes clinical data for the effective storage and retrieval of data collected in drug development, clinical trials, government agencies and healthcare service organizations. Capish's novel and patient-centric technology can create new business opportunities as well as possibilities for surveillance and research. For example, a comprehensive review of data can result in new patent opportunities, increase patient safety and improve treatment.

"Capish is planning for a rapid establishment and expansion in the U.S.," says Kelty. "We believe that the Science Center can support the company with its close vicinity to the East Coast market, financing opportunities and on-site business support."

As a participant in the Port's Global Soft Landing (GSL) Program, Capish joins companies from Belgium, China, France, India, Russia, Singapore and the United Kingdom. GSL is designed to help international companies establish a foothold in the region's life sciences and technology markets. The Port is one of only 23 business incubation programs in the world that hold the Soft Landings International Incubator designation from the National Business Incubation Association.
