A New White Paper From Winchester Systems: "How to Speed up Database Applications With a 'Purpose-Built' SSD Storage Solution"

BILLERICA, MA--(Marketwire - Aug 9, 2012) - Winchester Systems Inc., a leading data storage solutions provider, today released a new white paper titled, "How to speed up database applications with a 'Purpose-Built' SSD storage solution."

The white paper highlights the technology and performance results of the company's DA-2300 FlashDisk Database Accelerator that is designed to speed database, OLTP and other random access applications. The unit clocks in (with 4 KB database-sized blocks) at 73,000 sustained random IOPS, 213,000 sustained sequential IOPS with bursts from cache over 500,000 IOPS. The product speeds up database applications such as Oracle, SQLserver, SAP and MySQL by up to 25x. Unlike some popular solutions that are local to a server, FlashDisk DBA can be deployed as a centralized storage device on a Fibre Channel SAN or as a "SAN-In-A-Box" directly attached to up to eight servers.

FlashDisk Database Accelerator is housed in a 3.5" high (2U) rackmount enclosure with 12 high-performance, long-life Single Level Cell (SLC) Solid State Disks (SSDs). The SSDs are available in capacities of 100 GB, 200 GB or 400 GB each, thus providing up to 4.8 TB of total capacity in a single unit. It is compatible with any open operating system and runs all popular databases and standard applications -- plus supports VMware, Citrix and Hyper-V virtual environments.
