Chris Wilson Show Filmed at the Office of Arlington Chiropractor

ARLINGTON, Va., Aug. 12, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Chris Wilson Show recently filmed a live show at the office of Arlington chiropractor Dr. Wendy Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs is known for her experience treating sports injuries, including those sustained by professional athletes. Dr. Jacobs hopes the show will raise awareness about sports medicine and the importance of seeking chiropractic care for injury rehabilitation. Dr. Jacobs often treats Chris Wilson as part of ongoing injury rehabilitation and preventive care.

The Chris Wilson Show features Redskins Linebacker Chris Wilson and Lake Lewis. The show chose to film at Dr. Jacobs' Arlington chiropractic care and wellness center because of her experience in sports injury rehabilitation.

Dr. Jacobs is a U.S. Army Veteran who served as chiropractor for the all-Army teams. In addition to treating patients at her office, Dr. Jacobs also provides care for Washington, D.C. professional athletes, including members of the Washington Mystics women's basketball team.

According to the sports medicine chiropractor, proper care following a sports injury is essential to ensuring that the body heals safely and correctly.

"Unfortunately, many athletes underestimate the importance of proper care after an injury," said Dr. Jacobs. "By choosing our office as a filming location, the Chris Wilson Show helped educate his viewers about the importance of rehabilitative care."

The Chris Wilson Show is hosted by Chris Wilson and Lake Lewis of Sports Journey Broadcast Network. Wilson and Lewis chose to film their recent broadcast live from Jacobs Chiropractic in order to raise awareness about sports injury rehabilitation.

"Depending on the type and extent of the injury, spinal adjustments offer numerous benefits for injured athletes," said Dr. Jacobs. "Chronic knee pain, ankle pain, shoulder pain and back pain may be caused by an underlying misalignment in the body. Damage to surrounding soft tissue, such as the knee ligaments, further exacerbates this misalignment and contributes to chronic pain."

According to Dr. Jacobs, an integrated approach to sports injury treatment delivers the best results for athletes. For example, Dr. Jacobs uses physiotherapy exercises to help safely restore movement to injured muscles.

"Our approach to treatment incorporates rehabilitative care with spinal adjustments," said Dr. Jacobs. "Our goal is to both relieve chronic pain and correct the underlying cause for the injury. We frequently combine spinal adjustments with deep tissue therapeutic massage, cold laser therapy and physiotherapy."

Dr. Jacobs hopes her practice's appearance on the Chris Wilson Show will encourage injured athletes to seek proper rehabilitative treatment.

"You don't need to be a professional athlete to need sports medicine," said Dr. Jacobs. "Ignoring an injury can cause the formation of scar tissue, which may slow healing and ultimately worsen pain. Whether you are a casual runner or a professional athlete, prompt care can get you off the sidelines and back in the game."
