Avascent's Royce Dalby to Speak at Cargo Airships Workshop in Anchorage

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Aug 16, 2012) - Avascent Partner Royce Dalby will present the business case for cargo airships at the 2nd Cargo Airships for Northern Operations Workshop to be held in Anchorage, Alaska, on August 22-24, 2012.

"Airship technology has improved substantially in recent decades, making the vehicles safer and more reliable than many people realize," Royce commented. "They require minimal infrastructure and are highly efficient, and in point-to-point transport to remote locations they can even deliver cargo much faster than alternative forms of transportation."

Royce will be presenting the results of an Avascent analysis conducted for NASA's Ames Research Center. The study found that by deploying technologies already in existence, airship companies could gain more than $1 billion in cargo transport business. With a few technological advances, the market opportunity could swell to $5 billion or more.

"The market demand is clear, yet investors mistakenly think of earlier airship concepts based on outdated technologies and dismiss today's opportunities. A lot of potential profit is being left on the table," Royce noted.

Royce leads Avascent's space and NASA-related efforts at Avascent, where he provides strategic advisement to commercial and government clients. With almost 25 years of experience in the aerospace field, he has led numerous analyses on launch systems, satellite remote sensing systems, global positioning technologies, human spaceflight, space science, and aeronautical systems and technologies.
