Failure to Return to Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution


STE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 27, 2012) - On August 25, 2012, inmate Mario Côté failed to return to Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution. The inmate had been in the community on an unescorted temporary absence. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has contacted the Sûreté du Québec and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Mario Côté, 46 years old, is described as 178 cm in height, his weight is 80 Kg (177 lbs). He has hazel eyes and gray hair, and has several tattoos on his body: a panther on his right arm, a tree on his left leg, a castle and sunshine on his right calf, a tribal sign on his left arm, a tribal sign and two swords on his left forearm, a devil with a naked woman on his chest and a dragon-lion with the inscription "Dragon" and "Joëlle" on his upper back. He is currently serving a 3 year, 7 month and 15 day sentence for theft and fraud.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Mario Côté is asked to contact police.

CSC and Ste-Anne-des-Plaines Institution will be conducting a joint investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are working with the Sûreté du Québec to locate this offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all available information to assist in the inmate's apprehension.
