iPerceptions Releases Automotive Industry Report for Q2 2012

Consumers Show Increased Appetite for Immediate Auto Purchases

MONTREAL--(Marketwire - Aug 30, 2012) -  iPerceptions Inc., a leading provider of online Voice of Customer (VoC) analytics derived from actual visitor feedback, today announced the release of its Automotive Industry Report for Q2 2012. The report found that there was an increase in visitors' willingness to make vehicle purchases within the next 30 days -- up from 12.9% to 14.2%. The data underscores the importance of streamlining vehicle websites in order to make it as seamless as possible for visitors looking for vehicle information.

"Manufacturers who want to maximize this spike in consumer purchasing should provide website visitors a pleasant and fruitful online experience," said Audry Larocque, CEO of iPerceptions. "Consumers should be able to get timely, accurate and easily accessible information about automobile pricing and features online. Easy access to online information helps address concerns of potential buyers and ultimately leads to additional vehicle sales through submissions for quotes, requests for test drives, and visits to dealerships."

In addition to purchase intent, the report found that 'movement and discovery' were the drivers which had the greatest influence on in-market visitors' overall satisfaction. Among these attributes, 'movement' or the speed with which automotive website visitors can find what they are looking for, proved to be the most influential in Q2 -- for the second consecutive quarter.

Search engines continue to represent the most important method of finding and accessing sites. In Q2 2012, Search Engines (32.2%) remained the most important means of accessing automotive retail sites. This was followed by 20.5% of visitors who typed in the URL in their browser's address bar. This underscores the importance of website notoriety and SEO efforts.

The report is based on immediate post-experience feedback from 35,931 visitors to 19 North American automotive brand websites and 6,864 visitors to 55 international automotive retail websites. Data contained in the Automotive Industry Report for Q2 2012 represents aggregated information obtained from iPerceptions' webValidator and 4Q Suite surveys.
