OTTAWA, Ontario, Sept. 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Energate, Inc., a leading, innovative provider of residential Demand Response for utilities and home energy management solutions for their customers, today announced the appointment of Thomas Martin as its new chief financial officer. Reporting to Energate CEO Niraj Bhargava, Mr. Martin will be responsible for managing and overseeing Energate's financial, business processes and administrative functions.
Mr. Martin's appointment comes alongside Energate's move to its new headquarters at 2379 Holly Lane, Ottawa, more than doubling the size of the company's previous headquarters, given its continued sales growth with electric utilities across North America.
Prior to joining Energate, Mr. Martin served as CFO of Protus IT Solutions, a provider of software-as a- service communication tools for small to medium businesses and enterprises, where he was responsible for all aspects of the company's financial and administrative activities and oversaw one of the largest Canadian venture capital-backed exits in 2010 when Protus was sold to J2 Global Communications Inc. for $213M. Mr. Martin joined Protus when it was a start-up and was a key contributor to growing its revenues profitably until it was sold with strong shareholder returns.
Mr. Martin's diverse experience also includes working as CFO and COO at FuseTalk; director of financial planning and systems at Export Development Corporation; and insolvency and restructuring specialist at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Martin also worked abroad in Dublin, Ireland providing audit and business assurance services to multi-national companies.
