Hannover House Mines Catalog for DVD & VOD Treasures

Profitable and growing independent distributor finds success with new releases, catalog promotions and emerging media platforms.

New York, NY, Sept. 21, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Independent entertainment distributor Hannover House (OTC Markets: HHSE), has found immediate success with a new campaign to repackage and rerelease titles from the company's extensive film library.  With a catalog comprised of nearly 200 titles from four separate studio labels, Hannover House has quite an arsenal of programming available for release promotions.  Initial titles remarketed under the new catalog promotion include the Animal Planet Movie, "Animal Clinic" and the CBS Television Series, "American Fighter Pilot", produced by legendary filmmakers Tony Scott and Ridley Scott.

"We are finally at a point in the company's development where we can successfully borrow a play from the Major Studios," said Hannover House CEO Eric Parkinson.  "Collectible catalog titles can be effectively remarketed and rereleased every few years, as a strategy to maximize attention, shelf positioning and sales.  This is why Disney routinely pulls new releases from the video market, puts them on extended moratorium, then rereleases them later to great fanfare," he continued.  "New releases continue to drive the sell-through side of this business, and to whatever extent a studio can position a title once again for new release shelf placement, this is a winning formula."

Initial DVD pre-order sales of the reissued "Animal Clinic" and "American Fighter Pilot" for next month have each exceeded ten-times the cumulative revenues generated over the prior five years.  Additionally, both titles are also receiving VOD-portal placement offers, which opportunities are generally not available for deep catalog items.

In support of the rerelease of "Animal Clinic," Hannover House has reworked the packaging to better emphasize the animal actors - including the award winning "Roscoe The Rocket" - as  well as to draw attention to consumers that the film is "from the producer's of 'Air Bud'."  For "American Fighter Pilot," packaging art has been updated, and text copy added to more clearly communicate that the series is from the Producers of "Top Gun" and "Black Hawk Down," legendary filmmakers Tony Scott and Ridley Scott.  "Animal Clinic" is 94 minutes long, a family drama, and is rated TV-PG.   DVD's are priced at $14.95 suggested retail, with major retailers, such as Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., expected to merchandise the videos in the New Release section for under $10. "American Fighter Pilot" contains the complete season one series, plus extensive bonus materials on three, extended content DVDs.  This item is also priced at $14.95 suggested retail.

The overall distribution strategy for Hannover House was described in the company's Annual Shareholder Meeting earlier this year.  The company has been releasing one or two new titles each month for the home video (including Video-on-Demand) markets, supplemented with three or more theatrical titles annually to drive visibility and corporate momentum.  The company also announced that it would begin marketing titles from the library and catalog, for rerelease onto DVD, initial release to Blu-Ray, and exposure through Video-On-Demand, beginning in 2012.  The final, key-component of the Hannover House releasing strategy involves major titles, such as the company's current "Mother Goose" production, and four other major titles in various stages of development.  These major titles are expected to become the "tentpole" releases for Hannover House in 2013 and 2014, around which all other release activities for film and video products can be structured.  Popular DVD titles released thus far in 2012 include:  "Pink Skies", "Humans Vs. Zombies", "Boggy Creek", "Cook County", "All's Faire In Love", and repricing promotions for "Turtle; The Incredible Journey" among others.

Book publishing, a former key product for Hannover House, has a diminished presence this year due to marketplace uncertainties in competing e-Book formats, and the shifting retail market for mainstream bookstores.  Still, Hannover House has committed to the release of three print edition titles, and eight e-book releases.  Print releases on tap for Q4 this year include "One of the Lucky Ones", "Blind Vision" and "Sable Shore."  Information on these books and e-book releases will be posted separately.
