HONOLULU, Oct. 8, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced today that it has appointed retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey A. Remington vice president and corporate lead executive for company business in Honolulu. Remington reports to Timothy C. Jones, vice president, aviation and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

In his new role, Remington is Northrop Grumman's senior executive for the Honolulu region, representing all business activities for the company. He will maintain direct liaison with U.S. Pacific Command. Remington is the primary company interface with customers and peer industry partners and business leaders in the region. In addition, he represents Northrop Grumman in the Honolulu community and works with other community leaders in support of economic development activities and local community service and philanthropic activities.

Remington joins Northrop Grumman after retiring from a distinguished 35-year career with the U.S. Air Force, having most recently served as the deputy commander, U.N. Command Korea; deputy commander, U.S. Forces Korea; commander, Air Component Command, Republic of Korea/U.S. Combined Forces Command; and commander, 7th Air Force, Pacific Air Forces. Previously, Remington commanded the 80th Fighter Squadron, 366th Operations Group, 27th Fighter Wing and 18th Wing. He has held staff assignments at the Joint Staff, Headquarters Air Combat Command and Headquarters Pacific Air Forces. Remington also performed as a solo pilot for the Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the Thunderbirds.

Remington earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a master's degree in aeronautical science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a master's degree in national security strategy from the National War College.

He has earned numerous military awards and decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two oak leaf clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Aerial Achievement Medal and Air Force Achievement Medal.
