Veterans United Home Loans Named to National Great Place to Work(R) 2012 Best Small & Medium Workplaces List in Fortune Magazine

Company Receives No. 21 Best Medium Workplace Ranking for Employees' Commitment to Great Culture

ADDISON, Texas, Oct. 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Great Place to Work® named Veterans United Home Loans, the nation's No. 1 dedicated VA lender with 36 employees in Dallas area, the No. 21 best medium workplace in the United States on its annual 2012 Best Small & Medium Workplaces list. The rankings were published today on CNNMoney and will be featured in the Nov. 12 issue of FORTUNE magazine hitting newsstands Oct. 29.

The list recognizes companies with exceptional workplace cultures. In its ninth year, the competition was divided into two categories with small considered 50 to 250 employees and medium considered 251 to 999 employees. Veterans United, headquartered in Columbia, MO., has 1,100 employees nationwide and was considered for the medium list prior to passing 1,000 employee mark.

"The driving force behind this recognition is our employees and the commitment they each have to building a workplace with a great culture," said Nate Long, CEO of Veterans United. "I love coming to work every day because this team makes it fun and rewarding to be here. Employees focusing on veterans, active duty military and each other brought us this honor nationwide."

Veterans United was selected among hundreds of companies vying for a place on this year's list. As part of the selection process, it participated in an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about its programs and practices. Great Place to Work evaluated the company based on credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

Part of this review centered on Veterans United's values, which are enhancing lives every day, delivering results with integrity and being passionate and having fun. Additionally, the review looked at the company's employee-driven charitable arm, Veterans United Foundation, founded in November 2011. In the first year, 80 percent of employees pledged 1 percent of their annual salaries to the foundation resulting in $1.25 million in donations to enhance the lives of veterans and military families nationwide.

"The Best Small & Medium Workplaces list grows more competitive every year, and this list featuring Veterans United Home Loans represents the best of the best," said Susan Lucas-Conwell, Global Chief Executive Officer of Great Place to Work. "Veterans United has unique values that have helped create a strong and supportive workplace."

In addition to its Dallas area offices, Veterans United employs 800 people in Columbia and 130 in Lenexa, Kan. All told, the company has 28 offices in 22 states.
