Microsoft Windows 8-style apps, or "Live Tiles," are designed to be fast and fluid and optimized for the touchscreen environments common to the current "bring your own device" (BYOD) environment in business technology. This Windows 8 architecture enables live notifications to Manhattan SCALE users as to current shipping metrics in the distribution process as well as the ability to change carriers on the fly.
