Yorkville Physical Therapy Team Welcomes New Staff Member

YORKVILLE, Ill., Nov. 4, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Physical Medicine of Yorkville announced that a new physical therapist has joined the practice. Jessica Jaquez graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Master's in Physical Therapy. Jaquez provides individualized rehabilitation programs to help patients recovering from a sports injury, auto accident injury, work injury or personal injury. She also promotes a healthy lifestyle as a wellness associate for Usana Health Sciences. Jaquez will work closely with Dr. Farah Malik, a board certified internist, chiropractor Dr. Brian Berkey, and the entire wellness center team.

Yorkville physical therapist Jessica Jaquez is the newest member of Advanced Physical Medicine. With Jaquez's addition, the wellness center will be able to offer enhanced integrative medicine services that are not available for every patient receiving physical therapy in Oswego or Aurora and other surrounding areas.

"We are excited to welcome Jessica to Advanced Physical Medicine," said chiropractor Dr. Brian Berkey. "Jessica is passionate about whole body wellness. Her care takes patients through the basic stages of injury rehabilitation into advanced back pain management and empowered living."

Jaquez holds a Master's Degree in physical therapy from Northern Illinois University, which she received in 2009. She first became interested in physiotherapy while working as a physical therapist's aide in high school. During college, Jaquez played recreational rugby. Physiotherapy treatments were an important part of her team's training program, providing pain relief and enhancing athletic performance. Today, Jaquez shares her passion for health by helping patients naturally manage chronic pain and heal following injuries.

For patients suffering from a work injury, Jaquez can implement physiotherapy modalities for pain management while also reducing the risk for reoccurring or permanent damage.

"Physiotherapy exercises are essential to helping patients fully recover after an injury," said Jaquez. "For example, an auto injury can leave victims not only battling back pain, but also general soreness and stiffness. Our treatments can help restore mobility and function to the affected area."

Jaquez works closely with Dr. Berkey and Dr. Farrah Malik to design treatment programs for each individual's unique injury rehabilitation needs. For example, after an auto injury, patients may benefit from a combination of chiropractic care and physiotherapy exercises to manage back pain.

The Yorkville physical therapist helps Aurora and Oswego work injury patients with physiotherapy exercises to help reduce swelling and inflammation, which triggers chronic pain and blocks the healing process.

"Integrating physiotherapy exercises into injury rehabilitation speeds recovery after a work and auto injury," says Jaquez.

When not treating patients, Jaquez enjoys spending time with her family and creating artwork. Jaquez continues to live a healthy and active lifestyle, enjoying running, biking, kayaking and skiing.
