Personify Launches Live Video Presentation App to Reimagine the World of Business Web Conferencing

Immersive Video Company Uses Microsoft Kinect Technology to Embed the Speaker in Virtual Presentations

CHICAGO, Nov. 13, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Personify, a top developer of immersive telepresence software, announced today the launch of Personify Live, the first Web conferencing tool that overlays real-time video of the presenter onto a PowerPoint slideshow, online demo, video or any other content. Backed by investment from AMD Ventures and Liberty Global Ventures, Personify (formerly Nuvixa) created its Live technology to work in conjunction with traditional Web conferencing and collaboration tools, including Cisco WebEx, GoToMeeting and Skype.

Personify Live is a software tool that uses a depth-sensing camera, such as the Microsoft Kinect, to transform the way people communicate through Web conferencing. With Personify's patent-pending Live technology for Windows PC users, live video of the presenter can be extracted from the environment and superimposed onto any background, creating a virtual green screen experience. All presentations can be recorded, stored and shared.

Personify Live was developed primarily for business-to-business companies and their sales and marketing teams. The service comes with an accompanying mobile app for iPhone and Android that serves as a remote control for the presentation.

"Our technology provides audiences with important visual and emotional cues that traditional remote presentation technologies cannot deliver," said Dr. Sanjay Patel, cofounder and CEO of Personify. "Personify Live creates an innovative Web conferencing experience and allows users to preserve the human connection of face-to-face interaction and deliver truly interactive presentations in a virtual setting."

Personify Live is part of a new generation of technology known as perceptual computing, which seeks to humanize much of the interaction people have with computers. Leveraging new perceptual devices such as Microsoft's Kinect, Personify Live accomplishes live video magic that would otherwise require green screens and extensive post-production efforts.

Developed primarily for business users, Personify Live allows sales teams to harness the value of nonverbal communication, resulting in a deeper connection with their audience. Studies have shown that people believe speakers are more credible when they can be seen as opposed to only being heard. Personify Live allows sales and marketing professionals to deliver a more authentic message and engaging presentation.

"We use Personify Live to give great one-on-one demonstrations to key prospects," said Jeff Kibler, senior sales engineer with Infobright. "Having our sales professionals and engineers 'in front of' our customers gives us a strategic advantage in a competitive sales situation. Also, engaging with our customers through regular personalized community updates has provided us another key communication channel with our open-source community."

Personify Live is compatible with a Windows Vista, 7 or 8 client, and a Mac OS X version is currently in development. The product is available for $20 per month per user, or three months of service with an ASUS depth-sensing camera included is available for $199.
