New Hamburg Restaurant Features Nordic Cuisine

Speicher 52 at Hamburg Marriott Hotel Is the Perfect Place for Friends and Family to Gather

HAMBURG, GERMANY--(Marketwire - Nov 21, 2012) - The Speicher 52 presents its guests a new taste sensation and is the ideal location to meet and dine in comfort. Friends and families can meet at large tables and get to know the cuisine of the neighboring northern countries. Optionally, an intimate dining setting is offered at this Hamburg restaurant.

The Hamburg restaurant rooms and interior recently underwent a complete renovation, resulting in a modern Scandinavian style restaurant. The renovation included a fresh coat of calming powder blue wall paint, new tables made of solid planks of variations of woods, painted floors, and the windows now wear short curtains of blue and white linen. An original dresser "Host Desk" and a large antique wing chair pulled the new look together at Speicher 52. Eyes will now navigate towards the center of the restaurant where a large buffet table with lacquer-black glass surface is placed. The restaurant's new furniture is multi-functional, as it can be suited to fit standing receptions, tasting events, and the like.

The reception area now embellishes a hanging lamp made of porcelain-teacups (designed by Gregory Bonasera). In addition to new porcelain sconces in the style of the 20s, there are many more small treasures to discover. Large black and white pictures show the turn of the century images from the Hamburg working time, while adding an acoustic insulation in the restaurant.

Harry Asbeck and his architects planned the careful redesign of the Hamburg City Center hotels iconic restaurant. After a six months planning phase, it was time to break ground on the EUR 100,000 project. "Our new Speicher 52 plays on the rediscovered trend that meals at large round tables with friends and family taste much better and make one happier. Moreover, the entire restaurant can be divided individually to fit everyone's needs. Special theme nights such as crayfish or reindeer roast with extra-large tables and our own house brand promise an enjoyable evening in a relaxed atmosphere. We now have a super-comfortable eat-in kitchen, Hamburg's newest attraction in the restaurant scene!" said Nina Eggers, Market Director of Food and Beverage at the Hamburg Marriott and Renaissance Hamburg Hotel.

The Speicher 52 menu offers typical North German and new Nordic cuisine, always inspired by the neighboring countries of Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The variety of dishes ranging from venison, lobster, cod, mushrooms and colorful root vegetables in the fall and winter, to fresh herbs, shellfish, wild berries and a wide selection of fruits in spring and summer. Only fish from Nordic waters and meat from the region find their way onto the plates and are an integral part of the restaurant in Hamburg's kitchen. Apart from the wide selection of Northern German fares is the house aquavit, the "Skål." This carefully crafted spirit is based on vodka and a mixture of different spices and herbs. In addition, the restaurant presents a new wine list consisting of exclusive German wines only.
