Lyfe Communications Announces Patent Filing for Stream Switching of Multimedia Transmissions

New Technology Creates Multi Point Control of Video and Other Media Transmissions Over Data Networks

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lyfe Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:LYFE), a technology leader in the development of next generation media services integrating TV, high-speed Internet and enhanced voice services, today announced that it has filed another core technology patent around its Adaptive Multicasting technology.

Middle and last mile IP data networks have loosely coordinated connections and capacities. To reliably transit these networks, transmission systems must be able to adjust to individual link capabilities. This technology enables real time stream switching so the transmission can successfully propagate each network link.

"This is the first multi-point control system for television delivery that allows reliable transmission of TV over data networks," said Greg Smith, CEO of Lyfe Communications. "In the past 10 years, new technologies have enabled video on demand over data networks but they do not support live Television with large audiences. Lyfe Communications is the first to develop the control systems for Adaptive Multicast. Our technology will allow streaming to large numbers of concurrent viewers over the data network in real time."

Adaptive Multicast technology with stream switching can be used to deliver High Definition TV with Video on Demand over existing data networks. It lowers capital and operating expenses on private networks for last mile distribution and allows the use of the general Internet for backhaul delivery.
