Gadsden Alabama Hotel Helps Raise Money for Habitat for Humanity

Fairfield Inn & Suites Gadsden Helps Raise $35,000 Through Dragon Boat Festival

GADSDEN, AL--(Marketwire - Dec 13, 2012) - On August 18, 2012, the Fairfield Inn & Suites headed to the Gadsden Boat Docks with one mission in mind: To raise money for Habitat for Humanity. With a team that included hotel staff and their family and friends, this hotel in Attalla, Alabama helped raise $35,000 through the first annual Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity Dragon Boat Festival and race.

This Gadsden business hotel joined the local BB&T Bank to sponsor a team, named The Crew With the Dragon Tattoo, which competed against 25 other teams to see who had the strength and teamwork to get them across the finish line first. With a team of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a steerer, the team maneuvered its 46-foot-long boat across the finish line to help change the life of one family. This month will see the groundbreaking of House no. 42 in Adams Park.

This Gadsden hotel was happy to be the host hotel for the event, which also held a contest for the best drummer costume; contenders included gorilla and bulldog costumes. Next year's event will take place on August 17, 2013, and the family for whom this year's funds were raised will be there to help with the fundraising efforts.
