Alfa Laval wins SEK 60 million marine environmental order

Alfa Laval – a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal separation and fluid
handling – has won its first order to supply Alfa Laval PureSOx exhaust gas
cleaning systems. The order, booked in the Marine & Offshore Systems segment
late December 2012, has a value of approximately SEK 60 million. Delivery is
scheduled for 2013. Due to a confidentiality agreement Alfa Laval is unable to
disclose the name of the customer or other details about the order.
IMO’s convention for the reduction of sulphur oxides (SOx) will affect all
vessels, i.e. new as well as existing. The convention, ratified and implemented
in some Emission Control Areas (ECAs), demands that sulphur emission levels in
these ECAs should be 0.1 percent from year 2015 and from 2020 the global
emission level must not exceed 0.5 percent. To reach these levels a ship owner
can either use more expensive low sulphur fuel or, on vessels where it is
suitable, continue running on heavy fuel oil and invest in a scrubber – such as
the Alfa Laval PureSOx.

Did you know that… Alfa Laval PureSOx hybrid scrubber solution can use both sea
and fresh water to clean the emissions from the main engine?
