SMARTRAC Complements PVC UHF Pre-Laminate Product Range

Amsterdam, January 31, 2013 - SMARTRAC N.V., the leading developer,
manufacturer, and supplier of RFID transponders and inlays, has
complemented its range of PVC pre-laminates in the UHF frequency range.

The SMARTRAC PVC pre-laminates have been developed to address the
increasing demand for UHF PVC cards with superior performance and
reliability to enhance convenience in access control applications. Based on
the Impinj Monza(TM) 4 IC passive RFID chip family (Impinj Monza(TM) 4D and
Impinj Monza(TM) 4QT, in particular), the pre-laminates offer a reading
distance of more than 5 meters, enabling fast and hands-free access to
secured areas, gated communities, ski lifts, and many more.

The pre-laminates are produced in a multilayered PVC construction without
PET layers utilizing SMARTRAC's proven manufacturing technologies with
enhanced in-house lamination process. The UHF antenna is printed with
silver ink and connected to the IC using flip-chip technology. In a final
production step, all PVC layers are collated and fused together under
pressure and at high temperature to get a monoblock PVC pre-laminate.

The SMARTRAC PVC pre-laminates have several advantages over pre-laminates
based on UHF PET inlays sandwiched between PVC layers. Fusing together the
monoblock PVC structure with hot lamination results in a very compact and
reliable pre-laminate which prevents bubbles on the card surface and avoids
delamination issues, even after years of use. The used flip-chip technology
results in superior surface quality and allows card manufacturers for
example to directly print on the pre-laminate.

The SMARTRAC PVC UHF pre-laminate product family with Impinj Monza(TM) 4
ICs comprises:
  - PVC Thinlam(R) with a thickness of only 300µm

  - PVC PRELAM(R) with a thickness of 400µm

  - PVC Clearlam made of transparent PVC with thicknesses of 300µm or 400µm

The complete PVC UHF pre-laminate product family is now available. SMARTRAC
PVC Thinlam(R), PVC PRELAM(R), and PVC Clearlam are supplied in
conventional card industry sheet formats.

The SMARTRAC PVC Clearlam provides optional security features such as one
color logos or security marks to be included into the Clearlam during the
printing process of the antenna layer.

Customized programming of the UHF chip with optional memory locking is also
offered by SMARTRAC for this product family.

Further information on the SMARTRAC PRELAM(R), Thinlam(R), and Clearlam is
