EMA Radar Report Identifies AppFirst as Value Leader in Advanced Performance Analytics

Company Named Value Leader for Business Impact Management; Top of Vendor Pack in Leveraging the Cloud for Analyzing Critical Data for Business Outcomes

NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AppFirst, the leading provider of SaaS-based application management solutions, announced today that Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), a leading IT and data management research and consulting firm, has highlighted the company in its new Radar Report on Advanced Performance Analytics, and named it a Value Leader for its Business Impact Management use case. In the report, EMA finds that AppFirst's combination of application performance and business impact offers an elegant and efficient approach to examine and analyze critical business outcomes – from revenue, business activity metrics, consumer/application usage, and end user effectiveness in interacting with applications. It also notes that AppFirst does this from its cohesive, system-centric perspective where it can dynamically align service performance with business outcome and business risk.

In the course of its research for the report titled, "EMA Use Cases for Advanced Performance Analytics (APA): Big Data Gets a New Face," EMA identifies APA as bringing real-time or near real-time "big data" to IT operations, architects, service managers and even applications development, as well as IT executives and non-IT business stakeholders. The report states that APA challenges traditional notions of 'fixed markets' with linear boundaries and rigid technical criteria – likening APA to a 'tidal wave' shattering traditional industry assumptions. "APA differs from classic warehousing in that discovery, modeling, techniques for data collection and prioritization provide a level of efficiency for IT service management that most classic 'big data' approaches cannot." 1

"Our report finds that APA has evolved out of classic service performance management, but with a twist," said Dennis Drogseth, vice president of EMA and author of the report. "Rather than siloed approaches to monitoring and analysis, APA demands more eclectic data collection, along with huge levels of analytical scalability and strong insights into cross-domain and business outcomes. AppFirst is at the top of the APA pack when it comes to leveraging the cloud because of its cohesive cross-domain efficiencies, reasonable costs and no maintenance fees."

The Radar Report includes an assessment and profile of 22 companies it has identified as in the APA space, including AppFirst. It also discusses application transactions, and targets three distinct use cases:

  • Technical Performance Analytics
  • Business Impact
  • Change Impact and Capacity Optimization/Planning

In the report, EMA identifies AppFirst as a Value Leader in Business Impact Management use case. EMA cites AppFirst's focus on the application ecosystem and ability to bore deeply into systems-centric awareness of application processes and interactions with unique benchmark data as setting it apart from competitive solutions. Additionally, the report states that AppFirst profits from having its data, including application, infrastructure and business, in a single location. This enables its core analytic strengths to be harvested more efficiently and dimensionally than data lost in isolated monitoring tools or suites.

"This report from EMA validates our belief that immediate access to information on performance data and business impact dramatically improves internal response times to critical issues," said Pamela Roussos, CMO of AppFirst. "We talk to enterprise CIOs and IT staff every day, and we know that full-stack visibility into systems, applications and business metrics significantly impacts their customers' experience and their business."
