Technopolis Ülemiste Receives Green Office Label

Technopolis Ülemiste in Tallinn is the first Technopolis office outside Finland to receive the Green Office label granted by WWF Finland. All Technopolis’ own offices in Finland have already received the label. Green Office is an environmental label for offices, with the aim of decreasing their CO2 emissions and ecological footprint. Including the Ülemiste office, Technopolis now has ten labeled offices.

To get the Green Office label, the Ülemiste office generated a Green Office team, agreed on environmental principles, and prepared an initial assessment and a detailed environmental plan,” says Technopolis’ Environmental & Sustainability Manager Virve Riihonen. “The Ülemiste office is very active in green issues. For example, the office improved its waste management, paid attention to saving energy, purchased a CO2 monitoring device, and defined three environmental indicators to be reported annually.”

According to estimates, Technopolis’ Green Offices altogether have the possibility to save as much as 100,000 euros annually, e.g. by using double-sided printing. The environmental plans of all our own Green Offices also support the management of energy consumption and the amount of waste generated. This helps to save on maintenance costs.
Green Office projects have been part of Technopolis’ environmental strategy for 2011–2015. Technopolis will also try to develop its services to be greener to support its customers in achieving their green labels and certificates.
