U.S. Security Associates Participates in the American Heart Association's 10th National Wear Red Day

ATLANTA, Feb. 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Expect to see red in U.S. Security Associates branch offices across America today! Employees at more than 160 U.S. Security Associates locations are wearing red in a united show of support for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women® initiative.

February 1, 2013 is the 10th National Wear Red Day, and Go Red for Women® is asking supporters to not only proudly wear red as individuals but also go a step farther and turn America red – every landmark, every Main Street, every organization and every home – to shine a spotlight on heart disease in women. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women, more deadly than all forms of cancer combined. While 1 in 31 American women dies each year from breast cancer; 1 in 3 women die every year from heart disease. An estimated 43 million women in the U.S. are affected by heart disease, and every minute, another woman dies.

The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women® movement has been impacting the health of women for 10 years. More than 627,000 women's lives have been saved. But heart disease in women requires more attention, more research and swifter action. Today, only one in five American women believes that heart disease is her greatest health threat. Women represent less than one-quarter of participants in heart-related studies, and women are less likely to call 9-1-1 for themselves when experiencing heart attack symptoms than they are for someone else.

At U.S. Security Associates' corporate headquarters in Roswell, Georgia, CEO Chuck Schneider is proud to join employees company-wide in Going Red today. He says, "Go Red is a natural extension of our role as a security services provider, and it's consistent with our company values. Going Red means living healthy and spreading awareness of the message that heart disease is the #1 risk threatening the lives of women today. Physically fit security officers with healthy lifestyles are the heartbeat of our organization, and providing Security Solutions for a Safer WorldTM begins with recognizing and reducing risks. We welcome this opportunity to foster greater awareness of the risk of heart disease in women and to encourage not only our co-workers and clients but also our mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends to make healthy choices."
