The Salvation Army Selects WorkForce Software to Automate Employee Time and Scheduling Across Canada

Non-Profit to Improve Operational Efficiencies Through Workforce Management

TORONTO and LIVONIA, MI--(Marketwire - Feb 19, 2013) - WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labour policies and stringent compliance demands, today announced that The Salvation Army in Canada has selected its EmpCenter suite to standardize workforce management processes nationwide.

The Salvation Army began its work in Canada in 1882 and has grown to become the largest non-governmental direct provider of social services in the country. The Salvation Army gives hope and support to vulnerable people every day in 400 communities across Canada and more than 120 countries around the world. Its work in Canada is made possible by a dedicated staff of 10,000 employees, passionately assisted by nearly 150,000 volunteers.

The organization provides a wide variety of services to people in hundreds of communities nationwide, including coordinating food drives, leading awareness campaigns and operating thrift stores and long-term care facilities. These diverse programs rely on the efficient deployment of staff and volunteers with particular skills and expertise, and therefore present significant workforce management challenges. Further, The Salvation Army has a large union representation, which requires careful adherence to the various scheduling and pay policies specified in each of several dozen collective bargaining agreements. In order to boost program efficiency, and ultimately be able to deliver more services at lower costs, The Salvation Army decided to automate its labour practices with an established industry solution.

Key requirements included the ability to manage all of the various provincial regulations and union requirements without cumbersome software customization, and a solution that could be delivered via software-as-a-service (SaaS) in order to minimize internal maintenance and support. Through its search, The Salvation Army determined that WorkForce Software's EmpCenter suite was uniquely capable of addressing these needs.

"Every improvement we make in reducing administrative hours and maximizing worker productivity helps us offer greater support to the people and communities we serve," stated Josie Delpriore, Director of Employee Relations at The Salvation Army in Canada. "WorkForce Software becomes a valued partner in that mission by providing the technology and expertise to help us automate everything from employee work schedules to tracking volunteer hours, on a single technology platform."

"The Salvation Army has an impressive history of transforming communities," noted Kevin Choksi, CEO and co-founder of WorkForce Software, "yet they also contend with a variety of workforce management challenges. EmpCenter was designed to help large, decentralized organizations like theirs by managing their entire workforce within a single enterprise platform, simplifying intricate union and compliance requirements and providing more time to focus on their core mission. We look forward to helping The Salvation Army enhance its labour practices, and are proud to help them advance their transformative work."
