Aesculap Implant Systems to Participate in the 80th American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2013 Annual Meeting

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., March 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aesculap Implant Systems will feature their latest advancements for orthopaedic surgeons, such as the VEGA System® Knee, EnduRo™AS and Columbus® AS Knee Revision Systems, Metha® Short Hip Stem and the IQ instrumentation platform, in booth number 1024 during the AAOS technical exhibition held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from March 20 – 22, 2013.

Aesculap Implant Systems, LLC (Aesculap), a leading manufacturer of knee and hip orthopaedic devices and instrumentation, is pleased to announce that it will participate and display its products at the 80th Annual AAOS Meeting, during the technical exhibition being held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois from March 20 – 22, 2013.

Visitors to Aesculap's booth, number 1024, will see the company's latest orthopaedic implants and solutions, designed with the goal of improved operative procedures and patient outcomes. The booth will feature the VEGA System Posterior Stabilized Knee Replacement Technology, which uses a unique post-cam design to mimic natural knee kinematics. The groundbreaking design of the VEGA System optimizes pivotal motion while greatly reducing surface stress.

Other innovative products Aesculap will feature in booth 1024:

  • Metha Short Hip Stem: Combines a modular design, minimal stem size and medial insertion direction to facilitate the minimally invasive, Direct Anterior Approach.
  • IQ Instrumentation: The intuitive & quick instrument platform features dual-purpose instruments and streamlined trays to optimize surgical workflow and easily downsize for best implant fit.
  • OrthoPilot® Navigation System: The award-winning orthopaedic navigation system that enables excellent implant alignment without the need for CT/MRI scans.

Additionally, Aesculap will preview a new system that is currently pending FDA clearance. The Plasmafit™* Pro acetabular cup system, in preparations for market evaluation in the U.S., features a porous titanium coating and unique design for good primary stability and streamlined surgical workflow. Also on display will be Vitelene™*, a Vitamin E stabilized Polyethylene insert that minimizes wear and oxidation, and is currently marketed throughout Europe.

New for 2013, Aesculap, Inc. will host a dedicated space, in booth number 124, to showcase the SterilContainer™ System.
