The United States Hispanic Chamber Celebrates International Women's Day and Announces Partnership With Sheryl Sandberg's Lean In

WASHINGTON, March 8, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) celebrates International Women's Day and is proud to announce its invaluable partnership with Lean In.

Lean In encourages women to pursue their ambitions by offering ongoing inspiration, support and necessary tools to help them achieve their goals. Lean In circles will create open-dialogue spaces for women to talk openly about the challenges they face and work together to overcome them. Ultimately, Lean In hopes to change the trajectory of women through unity and empowerment in order to create a better world for everyone.

"The USHCC would like to celebrate the contribution of America's women entrepreneurs on this day and is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Lean In. Our nation's women are the foundation that secures our families and communities – our association understands that women must be empowered, respected and celebrated every single day of the year – not just on International Women's Day. We are committed to adopting practices and building alliances with organizations that share this essential belief. The USHCC admires Lean In's commitment to provide invaluable tools, resources and support to empower women. We are honored to be part of this important effort," said USHCC President & CEO Javier Palomarez.

Lean In's model is composed of three main pillars: Community, where women will be encouraged through open exchange of ideas and information; Education, through a growing library of free online lectures on topics including leadership and communication; and Circles, small groups that meet on a monthly-basis to offer encouragement and support in an atmosphere of confidentially and trust.

USHCC Chairman Emeritus Nina Vaca stated, "Lean In's mission to empower and unite women is exactly the kind of innovative, proactive effort needed in the business sector. The USHCC supports this mission and is committed to work with businesses to ensure Lean In's vision successfully impacts all diverse communities. Latinas form a key constituency of this initiative, and we are excited to be part of this incredible undertaking."
