New Optical Connectivity Solutions for 40G/100G and Next-Generation Networks


SAN JOSE, Calif. and SINGAPORE, March 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Avago Technologies (Nasdaq:AVGO) and Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW) today announced collaboration on new optical cabling connectivity solutions.

Avago Technologies, a world's leading provider of fiber optic components, has developed a series of pluggable transceivers and Atlas optical engines at 40G/100G and beyond, ideally suited for the Ethernet, Storage, and high performance computing applications.

Enabled by Corning® ClearCurve® OM4 optical fiber and by Corning's Pretium EDGE® Solutions, Corning Incorporated has developed a new high-bandwidth optical solution that is ideally suited to applications at 40G/100G and beyond.

Together, Avago and Corning will provide and promote new optical connectivity solutions targeting next-generation networks and data centers.

Avago will be showcasing a private demo of its new single-mode and multimode optics transceivers and embedded optics at 40G/100G and beyond using innovative optical connectivity solutions from Corning. The demo will be in the Avago Booth #1043 at the OFC/NFOEC 2013 show in Anaheim, California, USA from March 19th to 21st.
