CHICAGO, March 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Family Office Exchange (FOX), a global organization that advises the family wealth market, announced a new workshop for family enterprises facing a transition in leadership. The program, titled "Family Leadership Succession: Developing a Roadmap for Successful Leadership Transitions," will be held April 22-23 in Chicago.
The workshop follows on the heels of a roundtable FOX co-sponsored with law firm Schiff Hardin that found families in the process of board development are also frequently in the midst of a leadership transition. The event held February 25 in Chicago was attended by 26 wealth owners and their advisors, and it focused on family enterprise board development.
"We found during our recent roundtable that many families undergoing a leadership transition are more open to the idea of adding directors from outside the family to their boards," says FOX Managing Director Karen Neal. "This suggests many families are actively seeking outside advice in dealing with leadership succession issues, something our upcoming workshop addresses."
This is the second consecutive year FOX is offering leadership succession education. The workshop is designed to meet the needs of multi-generational family enterprises and will cover:
- How to articulate shared goals
- What it means to lead a family enterprise
- The pitfalls and challenges of leadership succession
- How to develop a succession roadmap
Attendees will also hear from a panel of the previous year's attendees on lessons learned and where they are in their legacy planning.
