STEC Expands Marketing Team to Drive New Go-to-Market Strategy

SSD Market Leader Appoints Judy Fujii-Hwang, Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Communications; Zack Mihalis, Vice President, Product Management and Marketing

SANTA ANA, Calif., March 26, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC), a leading global provider of solid-state storage solutions, today announced two additions to its marketing organization: Judy Fujii-Hwang, vice president of corporate marketing and communications; and Zack Mihalis, vice president of product management and marketing. The two bring to STEC their nearly four decades of collective experience in high-technology marketing and product management at a strategic time, as the company expands its reach with STEC™ enterprise-class solid-state storage solutions through a multi-faceted go-to-market strategy.

Fujii-Hwang's background spans a variety of high-technology industry segments, with an emphasis on enterprise systems. She comes to STEC from Cloudmark, Inc., where she was vice president of marketing for the telecommunications security provider responsible for global market penetration into the world's largest communications' networks. Before that, Fujii-Hwang was director of marketing at QLogic, responsible for product positioning and promotional planning for the network switches division. Previously, she was a consultant executive with 3Leaf Systems, a provider of server virtualization solutions for enterprise data centers, after having held senior marketing roles at NeoPath Networks (acquired by Cisco Systems), PortAuthority Technologies (acquired by Websense) and Data Domain. Fujii-Hwang holds a bachelor's of science degree in business administration, with an emphasis in international business, from San Jose State University.

Mihalis's background is in the storage networking and security industry.  Most recently, he was vice president of business development for the data communications and storage business unit at Exar, responsible for spearheading business development efforts in flash-based storage, "big data" and cloud-based applications. Prior to Exar, Mihalis was senior director of marketing and business development at Brocade, responsible for OEM and channel marketing for the server connectivity business unit.  Previously, he held senior marketing positions at Hewlett-Packard, Broadcom, and Adaptec, Inc. Mihalis holds a bachelor's of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a master's degree in business administration from Santa Clara University.

Fujii-Hwang and Mihalis report to Ali Zadeh, STEC senior vice president, general manager and chief marketing officer.

"Executing on a revamped go-to-market strategy doesn't happen on its own; we need a highly experienced marketing organization in place," said Zadeh. "Judy and Zack, individually and collectively, bring to STEC that essential experience in enterprise systems, along with a unique understanding of global marketing and business development."
