Topical Surgical Applications Discussed at Laser 2013


WAUSAU, Wis., March 27, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Laser 2013 will showcase a session on Surgical/Interstitial Laser Therapy, Friday, April 5, as part of the 33rd Annual Conference of the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, Inc. (ASLMS), April 3-7, 2013, Boston, MA.

The section will present and discuss topical surgical applications in a variety of disciplines including dentistry, general surgery, gynecology, otolaryngology, plastic surgery, and surgical research.

"New developments in the use of laser energy to target and destroy tumors in liver, prostate and other tissues will be presented. Functional outcomes of aesthetic procedures such as facelifts will be analyzed. Using laser technologies to treat various conditions of the larynx and applications of lasers to monitor dental health non-invasively will round out this dynamic session," noted Raymond J. Lanzafame, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S., Co-Director. Dr. Lanzafame is the Director for Continuing Education, serves on the Board of Directors, and is a Past President of ASLMS. He is also the owner of Raymond J. Lanzafame, M.D., PLLC in Rochester, New York.

"Hot Topics" include interstitial laser devices in medical applications, use of high power lasers on swing mitral valve chordae tendineae, face-lifts and neck tightening procedures, focal laser ablation for prostate cancer, laryngeal microsurgical procedures, and outcomes of hypertropic labia minor diode laser treatments.

Carson Wong, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., F.A.C.S. will serve as Co-Director. Dr. Wong has many roles including Medical Director at Parma Community General Hospital, Chief at University Hospitals Ahuja Medical Center, and Director of Southwest Urology, LLC. He serves on the ASLMS Constitution and Bylaws Committee.
