Washington, DC, April 2, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The U.S. Clean Energy Education & Empowerment (C3E) program is now accepting nominations for the second round of the U.S. C3E Awards, which recognize the mid-career achievements of women in clean energy. An initiative within the Clean Energy Ministerial, the U.S. chapter of C3E is administered by the MIT Energy Initiative (MITei) as part of its partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy. The C3E initiative works to advance the careers and leadership of women in the field of clean energy, and the C3E Awards will do just that--raising the visibility of high-achieving, high-potential women through a national recognition program.
Nominations are being accepted for U.S.-based mid-career women who have done outstanding work in clean energy in one of six categories:
- Innovation and technology development
- Entrepreneurship and innovative business models
- Corporate implementation
- Policy and advocacy
- Advancements for the developing world
- Education and mentorship
Nominees should have a significant record of accomplishment, leadership qualities, and other relevant attributes, as well as be in good standing in their field, with colleagues, and in their community. The full eligibility requirements can be found online at http://web.mit.edu/c3e/eligibility.html.
The C3E Ambassadors, a group of distinguished individuals in the clean energy field, will serve as the selection panel for the Awards.
Six C3E Award winners, one for each category, will be named at the C3E Symposium in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on September 19-20, 2013. Each C3E Awardee will receive $10,000 from MITei.
The Symposium will also feature a new national student poster competition with a $5,000 prize for the winner. Applications from U.S. graduate students are being accepted through June 1.
