Statement by Javier Palomarez, President & CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, On the Announcement of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act by the Senate's Gang of Eight

WASHINGTON, April 17, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Statement by Javier Palomarez, President & CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, On the Announcement of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act by the Senate's Gang of Eight:

"The bipartisan immigration bill presented by the Senate's Gang of 8 offers a commonsense approach to fixing our outdated immigration system. The country's Hispanic business community recognizes that not all parties involved will get everything they want from the final outcome. This bill, however, shows that the members of the Gang of Eight recognize immigration reform is an economic imperative for our country. Today's introduction is a major step in the right direction and shows that the need to pass comprehensive immigration reform is more urgent than ever.

The USHCC commends members of the Gang of 8 for coming together to produce this bill. It provides an earned pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants who want to be legally incorporated into our tax system, become active contributors to our country's economy, and work toward the American Dream.   We look forward to working with Congress over the next few months to make meaningful reform a reality."
