BlueLinx Announces Contribution of Real Estate to Hourly Retirement Plan

ATLANTA, May 1, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BlueLinx Holdings Inc. (NYSE:BXC), a leading distributor of building products in North America, announced today it has contributed certain qualifying employer real property to its hourly retirement plan. The real property, including certain land and buildings, is located in Charleston, S.C. and Buffalo, N.Y., and has been valued by independent appraisals at approximately $6.8 million.

The Company is leasing back the property from its hourly retirement plan for 20 years and will pay monthly rent to the retirement plan. The contribution of the property will not have any impact on the Company's day-to-day operations at these locations. The contribution of real estate is expected to exceed the Company's 2013 cash contribution requirements for its hourly retirement plan.

"This is an attractive transaction for both the retirement plan and the Company," said Doug Goforth, BlueLinx' chief financial officer. "Our retirement plan will benefit from rental income from the Company and from any future price appreciation of these properties over time. The Company will, in turn, invest its cash directly into growing the business."
