WILMINGTON, Del., May 9, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Supporting the Delaware Center for Horticulture, a team of eight volunteers from WSFS Bank (Nasdaq:WSFS) gathered on May 7, 2013 to help plant 39 containers in front of the William T. McLaughlin Public Safety Building in downtown Wilmington to prepare for the 375th Anniversary of the New Sweden Colony. In 1638, Delaware's first permanent European settlers from Sweden and Finland arrived on the Kalmar Nyckel and landed around the site of Fort Christina in Wilmington. On May 11, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, and Finland's Speaker of the Parliament Eero Heinäluoma, will visit Wilmington to mark this special occasion.
