Introducing Fortune 1621: an Award-Winning, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon From the Bump Family

Napa, Calif., May 13, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Bump Family, whose vineyards are located in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley, today announced the unveiling of a new wine label, Fortune 1621.  The label is inspired by Edward Bompasse, an ancestor of the family, who immigrated to the United States in 1621 on "Fortune"--the ship which arrived just after the Mayflower.  Fortune 1621's debut is marked by the release of a 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, which earned a Double Gold in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and a Silver in the Sunset International Wine challenge, which categorizes wines by variety and vintage.

Winemaker Brian Mox (formerly Lewis, Laird and Etude) led the production, which began with the fermentation of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes in a steel tank. The wine was then aged 20 months in French Oak, 75-percent used and 25-percent new.

The Fortune 1621 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon from reveals a fresh nose of blackberry, cassis and touches of dried violet. The palate is full bodied with pure notes of blueberries intermingled with chocolate, caramel and hints of bacon. The wine can be enjoyed alone or paired with food.

"With this new label, we really wanted to celebrate the adventurous spirit that our descendants and the other original settlers embodied," said Tricia Bump Davis, General Manager of Fortune 1621. "When we share the story of Fortune 1621, we've noticed that it inspires others to fondly remember the histories of their families. Fittingly, our first from Fortune 1621 is perfect for sharing during an evening of storytelling, especially because it's a great Napa Valley wine at a reasonable price."

In the spirit of the settlers, whose adventurous nature brought them thousands of miles across the sea to the New Land, the Bump Family explored neighboring vineyards for grapes to blend with their own estate varietals for Fortune 1621 wines.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon retails for $28 per bottle or $336 per case. Quantity is limited; orders will be fulfilled on a first come first serve basis.
