TransAct Technologies' Ithaca(R) Line of Food Service Terminals and Printers to be Showcased at the National Restaurant Association Annual Tradeshow

HAMDEN, Conn., May 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TransAct Technologies Incorporated (Nasdaq:TACT), a global leader in market-specific solutions, including food safety terminals, printers, software and other products for transaction-based and other industries, announced today that it will showcase and demonstrate its innovative Ithaca® 9700 Food Safety terminal and Ithaca® 9000 printer at NRA Show 2013 from May 18-21 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

"We are proud to be able to showcase our next-generation Food Safety Terminals at NRA Show 2013, which are already beginning to gain traction in the food safety space since their introduction last year," said Bart C. Shuldman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TransAct Technologies. "The technology, speed and cost-saving ability of the Ithaca® 9700, as well as the flexibility of the Ithaca® 9000, provide the opportunity for all food establishments to ensure proper and easy-to-read labeling of food items, thus helping to prevent potential waste and spoilage. TransAct continues to provide innovative products and focus on the rapidly growing need for food safety and labeling in the restaurant and hospitality markets."

Attendees are invited to visit TransAct in booth #6262 for a demonstration of both products.

The Ithaca® 9700 Food Safety Terminal helps restaurants and other venues make food prep safer and faster by saving time, helping to cut food waste and reducing the risk of spoilage. The terminal features an 8.4 inch easy-to-read color touch screen with a choice of one or two printer configurations to print food safety labels needed when items are opened by chefs and prep cooks and then placed back into refrigerators, freezers or on the shelf.  These items have a specific shelf life and the label clearly informs restaurants and food establishments when the item expires. This alternative to hand-written labels saves time, cost and eliminates the risk of mislabeling or misreading a label, a potential health risk.  In addition, the feature-rich Ithaca® 9700 terminal also prints nutritional and descriptive labels for grab-and-go and pre-made items such as salads, sandwiches and soups, and also allows food establishments to print ingredients, calories and sell-by dates.

The innovative Ithaca® 9700 Food Safety Terminal has easy snap-in/snap-out printer mechanisms for flexibility and serviceability, and each can be used for multiple width labels, making drop-in label loading simple. The terminal can be sold with a PC-based software companion utility for quick menu and inventory updates, allowing establishments to easily incorporate this device into their daily routines.

The Ithaca® 9000 thermal printer provides flexibility to print receipts, sticky grill product labels or sticky custom beverage labels all from the same printer. This versatile multi-purpose printer uses either 40mm, 58mm, or 80mm wide paper in both plain and sticky thermal paper types and automatically senses what paper has been loaded.  In addition, the Ithaca® 9000 is the industry's fastest receipt printer at 12 inches per second.
