Mobile Platform Company Recognized for Its Ability to Disrupt Existing Markets

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - May 23, 2013) - People Power Company announced today that it has been named a TiE50 winner. The TiE50 recognizes the 50 hottest technology startups worldwide. TiE Silicon Valley, the organizer of TiEcon 2013, the world's largest conference for entrepreneurs, announced the winners at the annual conference. People Power was chosen as a winner in the Software category for its innovative mobile application platform.

More than 1,100 companies from 22 countries were screened resulting in 103 world-class finalists. The TiE 50 selection process was designed with meticulous planning, screening and judging by a team of prominent entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, corporate executives and other domain experts.

"This year's TiE50 awards were truly competitive with over 1200 companies from 20 countries in the running," said Venktesh Shukla, President of TiE. "People Power truly stood out with their popular Presence mobile app."

"We are so honored that we have been selected as a winner for the TiE50 award among such an outstanding group of technology startups," said Gene Wang, CEO of People Power. "Our new Presence app really attracted the judges' attention with its disruptive approach to home monitoring."

Earlier this year, People Power launched Presence, a free app that turns spare iPhones, iPads and iPods into security cameras with built-in motion detection and video alerts. Since launching earlier this year, the app is being downloaded thousands of times daily by users in over 100 countries.
