SOMERSET, N.J., June 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In partnership with AnythingIT, Inc., (OTCBB:ANYI), a leading information technology electronics recycler and e-waste handler serving both government and commercial markets, SHI International Corp., one of North America's top 20 largest IT solutions providers, will co-host a Recycling Rally with Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) (Nasdaq:VZ) in honor of World Environment Day. The event will allow the community to recycle unwanted electronics for free on June 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SHI's headquarters at 290 Davidson Ave., Somerset, N.J. 08873. SHI will offer water bottles to the first 100 recyclers and will also distribute tote bags, pens, and other giveaways throughout the day.
This is Verizon's fourth year of sponsoring recycling events in its effort to "Work Green. Live Green." SHI has also previously sponsored an E-waste Earth Day event. Last year alone, SHI's one-day recycling initiative kept approximately 5,000 pounds of electronics out of local landfills.
All materials received at the event will be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner by AnythingIT, an e-Stewards Certificate Holder and NJDEP Class D Permit Holder based in Fair Lawn, N.J. Every pound of material received will be sorted and recycled with material of similar composition with downstream accountability.
