Visit HRAA in Booth # 1809 at HFMA ANI 2013 for Powerful Applications Designed to Assist Hospitals, Providers and Other Healthcare Organizations Understand the Financial and Coding Impact of ICD-10

Plantation, FL, June 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Technical experts from Health Revenue Assurance Holdings Inc. (OTCBB: HRAA), provider of technology and revenue integrity solutions for healthcare organizations, will hold a series of presentations at Healthcare Financial Management Association National Institute 2013 (HFMA-ANI) on June 16-19 in Orlando, Fla.

HRAA's presenters include Dr. Mike Gallagher, CMO/CMIO, Dean Boyer, CTO, and Valerie Rinkle, VP of Revenue Integrity Informatics. The ongoing series of presentations will be held at HRAA's Booth #1809.

"Attending HFMA-ANI allows us to meet, share knowledge and learn from the healthcare industry's leading management experts," said Andrea Clark, founder & CEO of HRAA. "As part of our commitment to providing insightful predictive data and ensuring that we achieve revenue integrity, HRAA's esteemed experts will be discussing key issues surrounding the ICD-10 transition from various perspectives."

Dr. Mike Gallagher will present how ICD-10 codes can bridge clinical and financial initiatives. In order to be able to adapt to the changing healthcare landscape with advancing technological and recording requirements, it is vital that healthcare organizations have the business intelligence tools needed to understand the impacts and returns on their businesses. Participants will come away from the presentation with a deeper understanding of resource allocation decisions and integrating financial and clinical data.

Dean Boyer will discuss the impact that ICD-10 will have on organizations' denial quotient. While everyone is focused on the transition, who is focused on the change in values that the new ICD-10 taxonomy represents?  Attendees will learn how to handle excessive denials and how to work with payers to ensure integrity of ICD-10 strategy.

Valerie Rinkle's first presentation will deal with understanding the difference between translation GEMs and reimbursement maps. A larger amount of attention has been paid to the translation GEMs, but little has been modeled and discussed concerning payer's intended use of reimbursement maps. This session will explain the difference, use and intent, and potential impact of reimbursement maps.

Ms. Rinkle's second session will cover the advent of accountable care organizations and transitions of care management, thus increasing payer requirements for these codes. ICD-10 codes bring much more detail to tracking reasons for patient utilization of services, particularly socio-economic reasons.  However, with the potential for better data for analytics comes risk associated with the data being misused or misunderstood by patients, the public and others. Participants will gain an appreciation for risks associated with external causes in the EMR and patient portals, as well as explore strategies to mitigate reputational risk associated with external causes and use of healthcare services.

HRAA is committed to interpreting data to ensure that healthcare is efficient and effective for everyone. At the show, the company will also demonstrate the company's leading products, ICDVisualizerTM and ReadmissionsVisualizerTM, which together are powerful applications designed to assist hospitals, providers and other healthcare organizations to understand the financial and coding impact of ICD-10 and reducing readmissions to cut costs.
