Ruby Receptionists Launches Android Application Making It Easier to Work Remotely

Virtual Receptionist Service Expands Mobile Offerings for Small Businesses and Law Firms

PORTLAND, OR--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2013) - Portland's Ruby Receptionists, the voice of small business and Fortune magazine's #1 Best Small Company to Work for in the U.S., today announced the launch of a new mobile application ("app") available in the Android Market. According to a recent study from Gartner1, nearly 75 percent of all smartphones sold in the first quarter of 2013 use the Android operating system, and to support this growing audience, Ruby is expanding its mobile offerings. Ruby's new Android app joins their custom iPhone app in allowing clients to update their whereabouts on the go, view messages and access call history.

"We continually seek opportunities to innovate and enhance our services to help our small business clientele," said Jill Nelson, Founder and CEO of Ruby Receptionists. "By expanding our mobile offerings, we're able to help clients customize and manage the way we field calls on behalf of their company to ensure a personalized, meaningful experience for each caller."

Features of Ruby Receptionists' new Android application include:

  • Update Your Whereabouts: Clients can quickly and easily modify the way Ruby's virtual receptionist team handles their calls by updating their whereabouts and availability, saving time and streamlining the caller experience.
  • Check Call History: To reference a past caller's name or number, users can simply pull up the "Activity" tab, search by timeframe and select "Calls" to view a list of caller details.
  • Receive Notifications on New Activity: If a receptionist fields new calls for a client, the app icon will feature a red number, alerting the user that new messages are waiting.
  • View Messages: In addition to call history, the app allows users to filter messages by company and timeframe, and automatically hotlinks phone numbers and email addresses making it easy to reply from your smartphone.
  • View Assists. For clients who have Ruby's virtual receptionists place calls for them to optimize time, they can reference the "Assist" option under the "Activity" tab for a brief description of requested Assists.
  • File Contacts: The app features a "Save to Contacts" option, and details such as name, phone number and email address can be immediately imported into the user's smartphone address book.
  • Check Balance: View invoices and update credit card information.
  • Contact Ruby. Select the "Ruby" tab for quick access to Ruby's phone number and email address that are activated as hotlinks.
