Mi-Co Has Been Named a Recipient of the 2013 Microsoft Life Sciences Innovation Award for Its Work in Helping a Federal Organization Go Paperless in Clinical Trial Data Capture Using Tablets, With Its Leading Mi-Forms Mobile-Forms Software

DURHAM, NC--(Marketwired - Jun 26, 2013) - Mi-Co, the Mobile Information Corporation and a Microsoft Gold ISV partner, announced today that it has been named a recipient of the 2013 Microsoft Life Sciences Innovation Awards.

The awards, which were announced at the Drug Information Association's (DIA) 49th annual meeting in Boston, honor companies that are using Microsoft solutions to realize business and information technology benefits. The 2013 winners are revolutionizing medicine by bringing therapeutic breakthroughs to the market faster, to fight serious ailments, improve healthcare and enhance patients' quality of life.

"Today, the life sciences industry is tasked with not only bringing new therapies to the market faster, but doing so at a lower cost," said Andrea McGonigle, Managing Director, Life Sciences, Microsoft Corp. "The winners of this year's Microsoft Life Sciences Innovation Awards all faced that challenge head on, demonstrating sustainable impacts to the life sciences industry through the use of innovative technology."

Mi-Co Customer, Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP), used Mi-Forms mobile-forms software and Windows-Tablets, to almost eliminate all paper case report forms for a multi-site clinical trial with offline capture requirements, and reduced queries by 100x, produced a 50% data-entry savings and increased coordinator satisfaction considerably. Mi-Forms is a Microsoft .NET-based platform, with SQL Server driving the Mi-Forms Server product, which is responsible for version control, workflow and user authentication. Winners, chosen by an esteemed panel of industry experts, were selected based on how their innovation represents a breakthrough from the industry, how their innovation goes beyond incremental improvements on existing technologies, and improves their company's ability to get safer and more efficacious products/services to market faster by reducing complexity, lowering cost, or enhancing speed and quality.
