OMA Reports a 6.0% Increase in June 2013 Passenger Traffic


MONTERREY, Mexico, July 4, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (Nasdaq:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 6.0% in June 2013, as compared to June 2012. Domestic traffic increased 6.5%, and international traffic increased 2.7%.

Of total June traffic, 97.8% was commercial aviation and 2.2% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in nine airports in June, with the most noteworthy increases in Monterrey (+5.3%), Acapulco (+26.0%), Chihuahua (+11.5%), and Mazatlan (+18.2%). Monterrey and Acapulco traffic increased principally on the routes to Mexico City and Toluca. Chihuahua and Mazatlan increased traffic on their Mexico City and Monterrey routes. The largest traffic reductions was in Zacatecas (-20.6%), as a result of a decrease in traffic on the Mexico City route. Volaris started flying the Mazatlan-Mexico City route in June, and VivaAerobus started operating the Reynosa-Cancun, Torreon-Cancun, and Tampico-Cancun routes.

International traffic increased most significantly in Monterrey (+4.1%) and Chihuahua (+13.6%). Monterrey traffic increased principally on the Chicago route, and Chihuahua traffic increased on the Dallas route. American Eagle began operating the Zacatecas-Dallas route in June.

The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in June decreased 4.7% as compared to the same month of last year. The number of domestic operations decreased 4.0% and international operations decreased 9.3%.
