Software innovators embark on collaborative efforts – Look toward the future of radiosurgery

RaySearch Laboratories AB and Brainlab AG have agreed to collaborate in the
field of treatment planning for radiation therapy and dose optimization with the
goal to automate crucial steps in the treatment process.
Swedish radiotherapy planning software specialists RaySearch Laboratories AB and
German based radiosurgery experts Brainlab AG today announced collaboration
efforts focused on specific software enhancements to extend the capabilities of
available technologies and increase the choices available in the treatment of
cancers outside the brain.

“Working with Raysearch will allow us to focus even more energy on our core
strengths”, says Stefan Vilsmeier, President and CEO of Brainlab.  “We plan to
continue full speed on our path towards improving the consistency and quality of
treatments by optimizing clinical workflows and innovations. We see a good fit
between our two companies and are pleased to work together with an
unconventional player in radiation therapy software. RaySearch has an approach
to software development that reminds me of Brainlab from ten years ago.”

Johan Löf, President and CEO of RaySearch Laboratories AB, adds: “Brainlab is a
world-leading supplier of equipment for Neurosurgery and Stereotactic Body
Radiation Therapy and I believe that there are many synergies between our two
companies. This is a great foundation for a long-standing partnership and we
look forward to collaborating with Brainlab to provide innovative software that
allows for more effective delivery of radiation therapy.”

Development will begin immediately and integrated products will be launched at
the end of 2013.
