Virginia Plastic Surgeon Expands Implant Offerings With Natrelle 410 to Carefully Tailor Breast Augmentation for Each Woman's Unique Body

Dr. Enrique Silberblatt Has Begun to Offer Natrelle 410 Cohesive Gel Breast Implants at Aesthetic Surgery of Virginia; These New Implants Are Known for Their Anatomic Shape and Their Ability to Provide Patients With a Natural-Looking Appearance

ROANOKE, VA--(Marketwired - Jul 31, 2013) - Dr. Enrique A. Silberblatt, a Roanoke plastic surgeon, offers a range of saline and silicone breast implants for his patients and says he tailors each breast augmentation to meet the needs and desires of the individual woman. Keeping in line with his goal of finding the ideal implant for each unique patient, Dr. Silberblatt is now offering Natrelle® 410 Highly Cohesive Anatomically Shaped Silicone-Filled Breast Implants (commonly referred to as the Natrelle® 410 implants). Recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the Natrelle® 410 implants are designed to provide certain patients with some distinct benefits.

Aside from their ability to create a natural appearance, Dr. Silberblatt says there are additional advantages afforded by Natrelle® 410 implants:

  • They are designed to be form-stable and maintain a more consistent shape
  • They are far less likely to show rippling for thin patients who want implants placed over the muscle
  • They have been shown to have reduced rates of implant rupture
  • Because they are tapered, the implants are less likely to display a "shelf" in the upper pole where they begin, especially in thin patients
  • They are less likely to "drop" over time because they are textured and promote tissue ingrowth

Dr. Silberblatt says some women seeking breast augmentation have a very short distance from the inframammary fold of the breast to the nipple. If a round implant is used to augment this type of breast, he says most of the implant will remain above the nipple and may result in an artificial appearance. "The Natrelle 410 implants are shaped like a natural breast and are fullest closer to the inframammary area, typically offering a more aesthetically pleasing and natural-appearing result for patients with a short nipple to inframammary fold distance. I started using the Natrelle 410 implant for these patients."

Due to the wide publicity of Natrelle® 410 Cohesive Gel implants, many of Dr. Silberblatt's Roanoke plastic surgery patients have been requesting information on the implants during their initial breast augmentation consultation. He says there have been other patients that have even sought to exchange their current implants for the Natrelle® 410 model; however, he always advises those patients who have good results from a previous procedure against an additional surgery.

Dr. Silberblatt notes that not every patient is a good candidate for Natrelle® 410 breast implants. He says the manufacturer states that only 25-40% of women seeking breast augmentation will receive an appreciable benefit from using them. In addition, the implant is more expensive than other options, so Dr. Silberblatt wants to justify the added expense in each case.

The Roanoke plastic surgeon says, when using Natrelle® 410 implants, the implant size is determined by a patient's measurements and what size implant can fit comfortably underneath the breast. There are four configurations of the implant available that vary the fullness in the upper and lower poles. Dr. Silberblatt says he thoroughly discusses these considerations with his patients during the consultation process to help each woman achieve her cosmetic goals.

While the Natrelle® 410 breast implants may not be for everyone, Dr. Silberblatt says they can be very helpful in certain patients and represent yet another step forward in breast augmentation. "The Natrelle® 410 implants are not magical implants that will suddenly solve all the problems a patient may have. They are useful tools in our armamentarium to provide patients with a best possible outcome. This implant has been used in Europe for the last ten years and has an outstanding record of safety. It is only now being used in this country and the full breadth of its use will be determined as more surgeons gain experience with it."
